DNA Testing

We are all genetically individual and one diet and supplement plan does not suit all.

Sara has undertaken DNA training with DNAFit and myDNAhealth. She offers DNA/genetic testing and interpretation of test results.

Why DNA Testing?

If significant genetic mutations are present in the body, this can block the body’s ability to heal itself or create issues with nutritional supplementation. Genetic mutations in DNA can cause certain organs, cells or enzymes to function at a suboptimal level, this can lead to an increased risk for certain diseases and cause ill-health.

For instance, a person may have a genetic mutation on genes which encode liver enzyme function. If this is the case, a person can have a reduced capacity to detoxify heavy metals, chemicals and other toxins from the body. This in turn can lead to a build up of these substances in the body, causing chronic disease and poor health. See my article here: on heavy metal toxicity

By knowing which gene mutations are present we can resolve these issues and return the body back to a state of normal health.

Information provided by DNA testing:

  • Diet type recommendation
  • Carbohydrate sensitivity
  • Fat sensitivity
  • Lactose tolerance
  • Antioxidant need
  • Omega-3 need
  • Vitamin D need
  • Alcohol sensitivity
  • Caffeine sensitivity
  • Salt sensitivity
  • Detoxification ability and specific requirements for supporting liver detoxification
  • Methylation capacity and your specific need for folate, B12, B6 and other nutrients

What to expect?

  • The DNA test will be posted to you. Take a saliva sample first thing in the morning and post the sample back on the same day.
  • I will then interpret your results and explain them to you during your appointment.
